  3. I think this book relates to me by personal experience. The part of the book that relates to me is when Bruno is super upset when he moves because when I moved I was super upset. Also the fact that Bruno had to leave his best friends and he was really hurt. It sucks moving; especially when you have to leave things you love behind.

  8. I can't relate to the book, but I think my uncle can when he went to jail (concentration camp, and not having good treatment. Especially when the food is garbage, not literally. But the problem is when are you getting out or if you even will get out. imagine how the Jews felt. While outside the concentration camp people are waiting for you to come and be safe. Just in the book.

He discovers a huge fence on the other side of his garden which is presumably a concentraction camp and he meets Shumel, the other little boy on the other side of the fence.

Bruno, Gretel, Maria ( the maid), the Butler, Father, and Mother have to move from their beautiful home to a place called Out- With for the fathers job. Out- With was a home located near a concentration camp. Bruno hates this place and just wants to go home.

This book relates to a book I read a few weeks ago called Milkweed. Just like The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas it took place during the holocaust. Both books have a main character that is a young boy,who is very curious as to what is going on. Also they give you a feel of what it was truly like to live or be involved during the holocaust.

  17. I can relate to this novel because I am like Bruno. He is confused why he has to leave and go to another place. Im similar because I had to move to many different schools countless times when I was about Bruno's age and didn't know why until now.

  21. Students!
Please remember that all of your connections don’t have to be personal and direct. For example, you can just tell how this book relates to another book, movie, TV show, or court case. You can reflect on how your goals are similar or different than a character’s goals or actions. You can compare/ contrast the theme, setting, character struggles, or character interests. The list goes on and on…the point is to make an aspect of your post unique from your peers’.

In addition, please check over your work for spelling errors, conventions errors, and unclear thoughts. Your classmates are going to be responding to what you say as well, so please make your postings clear! Some of these are a mess to read!

    Keep posting!

  22. - Asia ,
Bruno , Gretal , Mother , butler , & The Maid had to move from this huge house because of fathers job. Bruno & Gretal are taking this situation hard because they had to leave their bestfriends. In out-with their is no one to play with and the kids are always bored. I can relate to this because when i was nine i had to move because of A distubance in my life and had to leave all my bestfriends. I was confused why i had to move !

  23. I think this author wrote this book because he wanted to show how bad it was during the holocaust. I think he wanted to show the audience that these innocent people had to struggle and be hated for no reason. I Believe he disagreed with hitler.

  25. 1. I think the author wrote this book to give the opinion of one of one the people involved in holocaust, point of view, my example from the book, is when bruno saw huts and gates and people in striped pajamas.

1.Bruno, How do you think your father's job effect you as you get older?
2.Why was moving so bad for you?
3.How do you feel the move effected your sister?
4.What do you think that name meant that the general called that man that fixed your cut?
5.Who do you think are those people walking around that courtyard in the striped pajamas?

    Conflicts-
One of the main conflicts in this book is that Bruno has to move away from his wonderful home to a horrible place called Out-With.It was small, had soldiers constantly come in and out but most of all had no kids around to play with. Bruno resolved this problem by finally realizing that this was his new home, and soon those things didn't bother him. Also when he went exploring he met a friend that he visited every day.

    - Yes, my book is very much realistic due to the fact that it took place in a historic event, which was the Holocaust. Just like the Holocaust, in The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas people had to move away from their homes and families to horrible places. Bruno had to move to Out-With because of his fathers job, Shemel had to move to a concentration camp simply because he was a Jew. The book also explains how horrible conditions where for the Jews, and how bad they were treated. Bruno's friend was skinner than any normal human being and he got yelled at for silly things. The sad part is these things really happened, making this book very much realistic.

  27. I think the author wrote the book because,he wanted to show the reader a perspective of the holocaust and its effects on others such as, Bruno and his family moving from Berlin to Out-With and Bruno disliking Out-With at first, but eventually adapting to its environment. The book also shows hope and redemption for others such as, Schmuel befriending Bruno and Pavel being nice to Bruno after he fell off the swinging wheel. And became friends since then.

  28. 1. Why didn't you tell your parents about the way you felt about "The Fury"?
    2. Do you personally wish to go back to Berlin with Schmuel?
    3. Do you truly care about your sister, Gretal?
    4. Why didn't you tell your father, the way Lieutenant Kotler treated you?
    5. Do you wish at times, you were the older sibling instead of Gretal?

why do you think the author wrotte this book?
i think the author wrote thhis book to inform people about a point in life when jews were treated as Non-humans from a view point of two boys.
write a poem about the characters, pot events and them of the book.
Moving from a beatiful home in berlin to a worthless dumb in poland i find a boy behind a neiborhood slump dressed in strips controled all there life behind a fence in polands strife wo meet and share there life between a fence where things divid.

  31. I am reading the boy in the striped pajamas and I rate it as a 10. The thing I liked most is that the book always keeps you guessing as to what is going to happen next. What I dislike is how it ends and it only tells you that you never see him again. I would recommend this book to somebody who is an advanced reader who does not mind having to read between the lines. Yes I think this book should be in the literature circle next year because it is a good educational book that is still able to keep you entertained.

  35. mrs.jacobs i think the author wrote this book in experience or having a connection with the hollacaust.in the book they talked about events that deals with when they caught all the jews and killed them.for the next question:i think this book can go for realistic because i mean the events did happen.they told true things btu instead of the author's perspective. 36. I would rate this book as a 7, because it is an interesting book but for people with a short attention span like me it was very tedious at times. I liked the ending of the book because it showed Father that what he was doing was wrong, and he got a feel of how he was making millions of other fathers feel. I didn’t like the way the author made Bruno so self centered. I would recommend this book to the avid reader who has a pretty decent attention span. I do not recommend this book for literature circle book just because most students don’t have a decent attention span.

    “Why”
I have to move to a place
    I’m not sure why
    They call it Out-With
    Its dirty and smelly
    And now its my home
Its small and in the middle of no where
I look out my window and see a long fence
I look harder and see many people
    They are wearing stripped pajamas
I wonder why they are there
I Wish I could go and play
    But I’m not allowed
My father said they’re not people
Which made no sense to me
But then one day I go and explore
    I meet a young boy
    His name was Shemel
    He was pale and skinny
So I gave him some food
I want to go over the fence and play
    But I’m not allowed
    I don’t know why
My sister says, because they’re Jews
Which made no sense to me
    So still I ask why
    Now I must leave Out-With
    And say my goodbyes
But before I go, I go over the fence
    To the other side
    But I never come back
    And noone knows why
    Why

I rate this book a 10. I loved it, it had a great plot and seemed really realistic.
I loved the characters and how you felt as if you were in the story. I love how Bruno was so curious about everything that was going on. I loved how when I read this book I was in the mind of a child. I loved how I never wanted to put the book down. I didn’t dislike anything about this book. The ending made me want to cry, but stuff like really happened, which is what makes the book so great. I would most defiantly recommend this for the literature circle next year. It’s a great book and has a good vocabulary. It helps you to understand what went on during the holocaust. I would recommend this book to any reader that likes a good story, or that likes historical fiction, but that can also deal with the sad ending. Honestly I think this book is good for any reader. I really enjoyed reading it!
